That’s a cool looking run I up for it.. soon as we get enough rain. Another one that was sitting under my nose for all those years that I lived in Dodge city (Dorrigo) but hey ya gotta leave some for the young fellas. Top stuff Boris.
You know this one of many creeks that as a young fella I drove over in tha school bus looked down and thought to my self…… well I don’t know what I thought but it was a thought of action, too young to think steep creek.. I was only 6 or 7,8,9,10 it was not until 1980 12years old that I built my first fiberglass kayak (Letman)big vol, and the (stiker) now we are talking low volume nose and tail and you could do what we called ” THE UNDER CUT” and had a metal flake deck n hull!!! fully trick!!! and started slalom boating on the Beilsdown and Goolang creek even then it was all about comp slalom and not steep creekin, man I’M A FOOL BOY should have seen tha light way earlier. But I did paddle the Nymbo Cod hole to Junction in 1980 at 1.5m or somethin around that level and got smashed at the Chute and Carls Rock and some sections of the upper Beilsdown that were near my house that were well.. mainly grade 2 or so.I can remember the days back then when the creeks were in flood most of the time.
Some thing’s I can remember. But my latest claim to creeks on the Dorrigo is Rocky Creek.. now go and get that one into yas.. it’s got THE BIGGEST drop around apart from Dangar Falls. By the way any one done that one.. not me I’ve been and measured it and it’s 66ft or 22m give or take.. gorrn some one do it.
Sorry to bore yas but I like me Dorrigo and it’s only in the last 20 years that I realise how cool tha place is. Creek on Boris.
HUCK IT is an online whitewater magazine dedicated to the progression of the sport on Australian soils. We are here to prove that Australia is indeed a viable location for boating.
